PorterHouse North

Service not that great. Food has really gone downhill. very expensive for just ok food

Porterhouse is always good for a decent beer. This place has good burgers if your feeling peckish, about €10 with fries, huge feed altogether. Not many boozers in this part of town so its somewhat of a haven.

I went the other night with some friends to check it out. I wasn't blown away with this Porterhouse but it is one of the nicer bars on the north side. It's very spacious and has a large outdoor area for smokers or people who had rather sit in a beer garden. I didn't try any grub, but their beer is good. It wasn't too busy when we went so there wasn't much a vibe from the crowd. There was some live music, which is always nice. I used to visit here alot, but Ive stopped due to being refused entry on St.PAtricks Day. We headed up after the parade with my 6 year old daughter. We were regularly and spent alot of money in this pub especially on food and for some reason (we werent told why!) we werent allowed in. I believe it may have had something to do with my daughter being dressed up in the usual patricks day attire. But I was very unhappy with the way they dealt with us. The food here is really tasty if you can get past the seating. The seat i was on was covered in cow hide...which traumatised me a wee bit...despite the fact that i was tucking into a burger....

It's alright as big giant boozers go. Last visit here was for a birthday party, they did some pretty good finger food, I remember. The type you want to batter right into cos you have the beer hunger. Massive outdoor area, huge bars, the usual Porterhouse own brand beers and a good selection of bottles too. Crowd can be a bit mad. Lots of people have a strong dislike for Porterhouses in general, but they're not that bad.

Went there once for a night out. They produce they own beers. I drank mainly Temple brown(don't know if is exactly it), recommend by the Barman who was very friendly. The main rhythm was pop/R&B.Despite of the fact that I'm not a big fan of this music, I had a good fun.
Will be back.

Bit of a fan of this place actually, massively miss having it as my local. Don't bother if you're not willing to try something other than Heineken, but the own brand beers are brilliant, Plain Porter and Oyster Stout are my 2 favourites. Great place to watch a match aswell, gets a good Munster crowd too - bonus!

Oh and the pizzas are definitely worth a try.

Oh and avoid it on friday / saturday nights, crowd's a bit grim...

Popped in here for a quick burger yesterday and while it's really nice inside I wasn't blown away with the food. I had eaten in the temple bar one before but the food just wasn't as good here - chicken in the burger was pretty over cooked and the chips well just weren't that great.
I did like the place inside though and the service was speedy so would probably go back again for another try.
